Remnant Church plants its ministry

img_0193 The Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed the Remnant Christian Center to Apopka Sunday morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony during the new church's worship service at the Apopka Memorial Middle School auditorium.

Michelle Bankson, the Chamber's Member Relations Director, presided over the ceremony. Also attending was Apopka Commissioner Diane Velazquez and Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings.

On its website, Remnant Christian Center (RCC) is described as a community church that will meet the needs of connectivity and fellowship with the Lord Jesus and with each other.

Their vision is to be a place of lasting healing and freedom to everyone, along with being a place where family relationships are restored and strengthened. A place of training, equipping and discipleship through many means such as: weekly Sunday morning services and Bible studies, restoration weekend retreats, Connect groups (small groups), departments, classes, and much more.

Called to Apopka

Their arrival in Apopka is prophetic.img_0203

According to Lead Pastor George Sotolongo, the reason they were sent to Apopka was not because they thought of it, but because of divine prophetic direction and the desire of the Lord for them to be in Apopka. Before the church launch was even an idea, there was a clear prophetic declaration to Sotolongo in regards to location.

"While sitting in a coffee shop in Ocoee, I received a powerful prophetic declaration while sitting with someone who is highly prophetic, and this person said: 'I see you somewhere in the North of Ocoee. It will be a very vibrant and fruitful work of The Lord', he said. "A couple of months later, I was meeting with a friend of his that would try to help out with an actual location for Remnant Christian Center. At that time the city was still not revealed to us where we would plant RCC. While in the car and driving to this meeting, the GPS system alerted me to turn towards Apopka. Suddenly, as I looked up at the sign on the road, my car was filled with the presence of the Lord as I saw two words stand out: "NORTH APOPKA!" Suddenly the voice of the Lord from the coffee shop several months prior that said 'I see you somewhere in the north' rang in George's mind and I remembered that prophetic declaration. This is why we are planted in Apopka. This is the desire from The Lord Himself for RCC and its spiritual community."
