Man vs. Bear: The test of a lifetime

Posted

The large, 400-pound male bear was so angry he was cussing me out. At least, that is what I think he was doing.

Then he charged.

Thank the good Lord he stopped when he was about 10 feet from me. He turned sideways to me to make himself appear larger than he really was.

Bears don’t growl; they pop their jaws, moan, and slap the ground. He was doing all this and more... with an attack, he would be on me in a moment, a blink of an eye. He was close enough for me to see the flecks of red in his eyes.

I knew he was a very angry bear as he popped his jaws, revealing his large, sharp, pearly whites. He charged again, then, after repeating this three or four times, he decided that he had taught me a lesson. Then, turning his back on me, he walked away and vanished into the thick underbrush that surrounded us.

Then I started breathing again. I have never felt so alive!

In a time such as this, you are put to the test. Yes, I knew something about myself that day that I couldn’t have learned in any other way.

When I go before our Holy God in prayer, I realize that I am in the presence of absolute power, and I feel alive.

Our Holy God, the infinite, is waiting for you. He yearns for you.

The bear could have killed me that day, But God, our loving God doesn’t seek to slay us but to give us eternal life.

Stand still, my friend, you are in the presence of our Holy God.

Praise you, Father, praise you, and thank you for revealing yourself to us as our eternal friend, Amen.
