The Florida State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police, an organization that lobbies the Florida State Legislature on behalf of Florida law enforcement officers, endorsed Kelvin Cobaris in his attempt to win the Florida House District 45 election. Cobaris is the Founding Pastor of Impact Church in Orlando.
"The Florida State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police, with the favorable recommendation of the men and women of the Fraternal Order of Police District 7 , proudly announces our endorsement of Kelvin Cobaris for House of Representatives District 45. The Fraternal Order of Police have endorsed Kelvin Cobaris and feel that he is the best choice of candidate to serve the citizens of House District 45. We believe that his dedication to serving his community will inspire others to lead Florida in the right direction and we look forward to working with him in Tallahassee."
Cobaris is running for the House Seat currently held by Representative Randolph Bracy. Cobaris, who is a Democrat, will face four other Democrats in an open primary election – Kamia Brown, Greg Jackson, William Jusme, and Peter Pham.
Unlike a closed primary that allows only voters from their party to vote, the HD45 Primary is open to all voters from all political parties since no Republican qualified to run.
"I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Fraternal Order of Police for my candidacy as State Representative of District 45," said Cobaris. "I have partnered with both the Orange County Sheriff's Office and Orlando Police Department to prevent crime and provide intervention for at risk youth for many years. So, this endorsement gives evidence of the work that I have done and plan to continue as the leader for District 45. I am "the bridge of opportunity"-- leading our community to restore and strengthen relationships between the community and law enforcement."
The State House District 45 election is August 30th.
