Farish Enterprises has filed a Conceptual Plan with the City of Apopka to build a new 80-room Fairfield Inn & Suites hotel on land behind the Aldi grocery store.
The Conceptual Plan was briefly discussed at Wednesday morning's Development Review Committee meeting. At issue was Farish's request to be granted a Special Exemption from the City's maximum height limit of 35 feet.
The proposed hotel would be 48 feet tall.
The hotel would be accessed by using McVilla Avenue, which is the street between Aldi and Racetrack.
The members of the Development Review Committee were ask to submit comments and were told the developer hopes to present their plans to the Planning Commission at its December meeting.
