Emergency rental assistance program continues to support Orange County residents

Posted

Since the Emergency Rental Assistance Program launch, Orange County has distributed more than $30 million in federal funds to keep residents in their homes. The County will continue to provide rental assistance to tenants and landlords with the opening of phase two on Saturday, October 8th, 2022, beginning at 8 a.m.

The income-based program is designed to assist Orange County residents by providing assistance to households who are experiencing financial hardship during or due to COVID-19. The program will distribute more than $13 million in federal funds to assist eligible Orange County residents. The key differences in phase two include the following:

  • Residents are eligible for up to 18 months of assistance inclusive of 15 months allowed in phase one of all federally funded EmergencyRental Assistance Programs
  • ERA2 gives priority to households with minor children, first-time applicants, or applicants who have received less than 10 months of rental assistance, in addition to priorities from ERA1
  • Residents experiencing financial hardship during COVID are eligible even if it is not due to COVID, which was an ERA1 requirement.
