The first step in any major construction project is moving the earth to conform with the architect's plans. But how best to determine when the earth-moving contractor has completed their job on a 61-acre site?
Florida Hospital Apopka contractor Brasfield & Gorrie decided to call in the Drone.
According to this article, the size of the site made it a great candidate for drone mapping, since using traditional methods would have been a very expensive and time-consuming process.
Dronebase, a drone services provider was hired to fly the site and provide the licensed pilot required. Due to the size of the site, multiple flights were needed. Total flight set-up and execution took about an hour.
An aerial drone was used to produce a 3-D image of the hospital site and determine how closely initial earthwork matched design plans.
