More than 40 soccer teams and college recruiters from around the country will be in Apopka this weekend for the 2016 Bazooka Soccer College Showcase at the Northwest Recreation Complex.

The special competition allows soccer players ages 13 to 19 to showcase their skills to colleges. Recruiters represent a wide variety of schools including Penn State University in Pennsylvania, Minot State University in North Dakota and College of New Rochelle in New York.

The Showcase also will feature a college soccer game at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Field No. 10 between the University of West Florida and Webber International University. The public is invited to watch.

Also this weekend, the City of Apopka Recreation Department kicks of youth soccer season with a league of more than 800 players. Add to that a Nations of Greater Orlando little league baseball tournament with 52 teams and the Apopka Little League games - it will be one of the biggest weekends of the year for the Northwest Recreation Complex, 3710 Jason Dwelley Parkway.
