Greetings!

It’s July and summer is in full swing.  With the longer days and warmer weather, it’s only fitting to celebrate National Park and Recreation Month.  It’s a perfect time to  explore and build memories at the more than 100 parks in Orange County. We are proud of our Parks & Recreation Department, which offers popular amenities such as pickleball courts, skate parks, trails, playgrounds and much more.

The County is also home to many boat ramps and refreshing lakes, natural lands and recreational centers where you can spend quality time with friends and family.

With the soaring temperatures, it is important to follow heat safety tips and stay cool. This is a reminder to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, choose loose and lightweight clothing, schedule outdoor activities carefully, pace yourself when exercising or working outdoors, and never leave children or pets in parked cars.

One of the many highlights of July is Independence Day. There are numerous ways to celebrate July 4th festivities in our community. Please prioritize safety when enjoying fireworks, picnics, or the beach.

Stay safe and happy July 4th.

Sincerely,

Jerry L. Demings
Orange County Mayor
