Doug Bankson officially launched his campaign for Seat 4 on the Apopka City Council last night at a kick-off event at Taverna Italiano at Rock Springs Ridge.
"It was a great event with a lot of energy," said Bankson . "We were very happy and I was humbled with the turnout."
According to Bankson, 100-150 supporters turned out , including former Apopka Police Chief Robert Manley and former Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce President Paul Seago. The event raised over $5000 for the campaign.
"I was told it takes $50,000-$70,000 to run for office," said Bankson. "So if we hit $100,000 we'll say enough is enough. But every donation is important to me. The $10 gift or the $1000 donation I hold them all dear. Every voice matters."
