The final step in the formation of the Apopka Area Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA), is the election of officers. The meeting will be held at 6:00 PM at the UCF Business Incubator at 325 South McGee, Apopka FL 32703.
The CONA Bylaws were approved at the June 14, 2016 meeting.
The CONA formation process began in last December when Mayor Joe Kilsheimer invited HOA representatives to the first meeting. The group met monthly and in March the appointed a committee to draft a set of bylaws for the new organization. The committee was chaired by Eric Coleman.
When asked about the work of the Bylaw Committee, Coleman said, "The process of working with a group of dedicated, concerned and knowledgeable individuals was fantastic. We were given 3 months to complete the process and we did it in 6 weeks! I believe the Apopka CONA is a win-win for the city and the HOA's. Together we can solve problems and in some cases make the city aware of our issues and concerns. Our collective future is bright. HOA's working together can share "best practices" and learn from each other to enhance our communities."
HOA's interested should complete a Member Application form.
At previous meetings Mayor Kilsheimer described the purpose in forming the Apopka CONA, which is to allow HOAs to more easily trade information and more effectively communicate with the City of Apopka. The Mayor also stated that the Apopka CONA will not be a part of the City government. It will be independent, self supporting and self sustaining.
