Reggie, I hesitate to even comment on this article, as it is such an old stale subject, like an already poured beer that has sat for hours and hours, and gone flat, and who even wants to go at it? Your articles seem to fuel the flames, no matter what. Let's see, we have an existing community director working on these type issues, and he has been highly criticized. We have the chamber of commerce also working toward the effort, and also the mayor, who both has been criticized . We have had the UCF students also, those taking university classes in urban planning, their planned careers, take part We have had numerous vision meetings take place with hired professionals at this sort of thing plus, have had the public give their opinions, wants and desires about want we want, and don"t want, over and over at these vision meetings We have also had previous city council members take it upon themselves to personally contact certain restaurant managements about trying to get them to come here to Apopka. We also had Mark Reggaton ( sorry, misspelled) hired to do this type of job of economic development downtown, but he only stayed very briefly, and packed up and left, and went to Maitland. So, the fact is, no one is excited about this subject of the city center anymore. The attitude of most is, " we will believe it, when we see it". Everybody in this city wants to argue all the time about everything anyway. Example :. A long while back before Denny's was reopened, we went there, and I noticed photos framed on the walls of how downtown Apopka looked years and years ago. There was what appeared to be angled parking along 441, lots of shoppes, beautiful large fancy palms along the sidewalks, etc. just beautiful! I came home, and posted how beautiful it used to be here and why, and I be darned if people started arguing with me, back and forth. This must have been just guessing, maybe the late 30's or 40's, don't know? There also were photos on the walls inside Wells Fargo too of old Apopka, not sure now, have not been inside there in a long time. It seems like to me, all the king's horses, and all the king's men, can't put Apopka back together again........
