We used to go to the coast all the time to fish, when the fishing was much better. We fished off the intercoastal waterway bridges, and sometimes off in some of the bays, surrounded by the mangroves. Whenever we fished by the mangroves, we got ate alive by sand gnats! I guess they stay in the mangroves. They are sneaky little creatures, if you don't know anything about them, I will tell you You can't see them, you aren't aware they are biting you. However, the next morning, when you look at your body, you are covered in big red bites that are whelped up, kind of like chigger bites, and they drive you crazy itching, and don't clear up and go away for a good long while!
