I hope everyone is having a great weekend and Memorial Day, and thinking about our veterans, and remembering those who gave all. I still have wishes and hopes one day, Apopka will build a veteran's park in this city. I know we have some veteran honorary notable items around town, but it would be wonderful to have it all come full circle with a veteran park, something similar to Leesburg's Veteran's Park, here in Apopka. Memorial Day weekend we used to go to the Zellwood Corn Festival, and the same weekend, used to go to Palatka, and catch their big riverfront celebration, with people bungee jumping out over the river and people parachuting over the river. Once a parachuter came down, and got a little too close to the bungee tower where someone was bungeeing....whew! I think that ended some of that activity there. Their downtown is right on the riverfront. People were allowed to park along the big high bridge over the river, that divided Palatka, into North and South Palatka Lots of people out boating and pulling up anchoring, to listen to the music and just chilling out. They had some great looking seafood cooked up, even though with my occasional gout, the foot doctor told me stay away from seafood, but I am not a fan of seafood much anyway, but it did look so good, when you walked along there, and saw all of that golden seafood cooked up, at the festival. My husband loves seafood, and he got some there.
