Sounds like the four firefighters who abstained from the vote, we're the smartest of all, and were clearly trying to stay out of the political divide, because they don't know what the end result of the fire department controversy will be, and they know they still will have to work there with everyone involved. There are two sides to every story. The Gannon report is filled with things being neglected in the fire department. As head of the department, the fire chief is responsible for his department, however if his firefighters ignored all the things that were in the report, that were being neglected daily, then they should share the burden of responsibility also. As the report stated, a lack of pride. It is not just on the fire chief, but all of the department. This fire chief has his hands full also dealing with the union, and union head. If the fire chief is replaced, would they be satisfied? For awhile maybe, then it would be back to the fighting with the next fire chief. The fire chief should have went to the hospital, and visited Austin, no doubt, and interacted with his family. I am sorry he didn't do that, for whatever reason, but it is too late now.
