Miss Apopka Wins Two State Pageant Awards

Posted

Miss Apopka, Arianna Beyer, did not become Miss Florida. But she did win two awards at the 81st Annual Miss Florida Pageant. The pageant was held earlier this month in front of about 2,200 people in the Youkey Theatre at The Lakeland Center.

"I was so very proud of our Miss Apopka, Arianna Beyer, at the Miss Florida Pageant," said Rosali Morris, president of the Miss Apopka Scholarship Pageant. "Her talent performance was stellar."

Miss Beyer named in the Top 15. She also won the Non-Finalist Talent Award and the Miss America Scholastic Achievement Award.

"Of course she wanted to be in the top 10 so that she could perform the clarinet for all her fans but it wasn’t to be," said Morris.

Miss Beyer made these comments on her Instagram account:

"Reflecting on this past week with one of my favorite competition photos, because I am most thankful to the Miss America Organization for allowing me to hone my interview and public speaking skills. While I am extremely disappointed that I didn't get to perform for my family and friends on Saturday night, I am very proud to have represented the city of Apopka, been named in the Top 15, won a non-finalist talent award, and won the Miss America Scholastic Achievement Award. Now, onward and upward! Here's to a successful senior year and all things clarinet."

According to Morris, Miss Beyer is now in Washington, DC where she is finishing her internship with the U.S. Army Band. Next week she heads for Seattle to participate in the Marrowstone Music Festival along with 200 other musicians. The Festival was founded in 1943 and is the largest and most comprehensive summer orchestra training program in the Pacific Northwest.
