A St. Johns River Water Management District scientist uses a camera on a pole to check on young owls at the district’s Lake Apopka North Shore.

And here is a photo of a barn owl taking flight on the Lake Apopka North Shore as a District staffer use a ‘peeper’ to check on her newly hatched chicks.
According to St. Johns River Water Management District spokesperson, Danielle Spears, "A peeper is a miniature camera system that allows the district to monitor nesting boxes that are hard-to-reach. The telescoping remote camera is the least invasive method for monitoring populations. "
