Deadline Approaching for Unclaimed Checks

The Orange County Clerk's Office has released its annual list of Unclaimed Checks. It's possible that your name may be on the list.

The list consists of people or businesses who have unclaimed checks issued by the Clerk's Office in the course of court-related activities. The list includes uncashed jury checks, vendor payments and cash bonds. Amounts range from just a few cents to several thousand dollars.

According to the Clerk's Office, nearly 13,000 customers have searched the list on their website for their name. But only a few weeks remain to check to see if you have unclaimed money with the Clerk's Office.

By statute, you must contact the Clerk's Office before September 1, 2016, to collect money due. If you do not, the funds will be forfeited.
