From the Theresa Mott campaign

Over 25 years of community service

Hello Apopka. My name is Theresa Mott and I'm running for the Apopka City Commission (Seat #1). On March 13th, many of you will be voting in the Apopka Municipal elections, and I'm asking for your vote.

Here's why I think I am the candidate that will best serve the community:

I am a 19-year Apopka business owner, mother, 47-year Apopka native and business/civic leader with 25-plus years of community engagement, and am running because of my unwavering passion for the city, and a desire to make it better for EVERYONE! I am a woman of integrity, an extremely hard worker, a problem-solver, open-minded, fair and an eternal optimist (counter-balanced with realism).

I pride myself on a love for giving back – as evidenced by my extensive civic contribution. I have a servant’s heart, and what I receive from giving greatly exceeds what I give.

I decided to run after extensive prayer, support from family and friends along with years of encouragement from residents and the business community. I am the President/Founder of, Professional Executive Services, Inc. (PES) — started in 1998 (created/ based in Apopka). PES provides administrative services/consulting to small and medium-sized businesses. I represent the City of Apopka on, MetroPlan Orlando’s Community Advisory Committee (CAC), and was twice appointed to four-year terms by, Mayor Joe Kilsheimer. MetroPlan Orlando leads transportation planning efforts in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties, while its CAC ensures the public has the opportunity to review and evaluate all proposed transportation plans and programs.

I am, 2nd Vice President of GFWC Apopka Woman’s Club (elected twice: 2016 & 2017), a civic organization which also presents the annual Apopka Art & Foliage Festival. Also, I was elected chairman of the Board (2009 - 2010) with the Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce—serving as its first African-American Chairman, Leadership Apopka Class II graduate and current Board of Director.

A tireless worker focused on economic growth

I appreciate Apopka’s strides made over the years and am anxious to remedy its challenges. I have witnessed and contributed to our substantial growth; however, there is more work required to ensure a trajectory beneficial to EVERYONE. It’s my goal to expand on that growth, by exploring ideas and solutions that will elevate us to greater heights. In my varying roles, I have worked tirelessly with leaders to impact responsible growth positively and am a qualified leader, who will bring an exciting perspective to the conversation. I value the privilege of serving on the Council; moreover, I respect the fact that ‘it is for/about the people.’ Once elected, I pledge to LISTEN to your ideas, thoughts, and concerns, then be a STRONG VOICE for Residents and the Business Community and vow to utilize forged relationships in achieving this feat.

Endorsements:

For years I have followed Central Florida government in action. I'm a “political junkie” who enjoys watching local government set policies that shape our city, county, and state. I have regularly attended Apopka City Council meetings since 2008. I have worked with many leaders and elected officials and I'm honored to receive the endorsements of State Senator (District 11) Randolph Bracy III, Former Apopka City Commissioner Kathy Till, and Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings.

“It is my privilege to support the candidacy of Theresa Mott, because she has long demonstrated her commitment to the citizens of Apopka and Orange County. As a small-business owner who grew up to overcome many challenges, she is an excellent example of the type of person who will be effective as a City Commissioner”.

--Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings

Finally, I am an Apopka High School graduate and attended Seminole Community College. I am a Christian, a proud mother of two adults: Norris Jr. and Bridgett, and have one fabulous Grandson, Triston. I enjoy reading, cooking, shopping, riding motorcycles, kickboxing, yoga, and spending time with family.

Undoubtedly, I love this City and wish to continue giving back by serving as your commissioner. I am hands-on, pro-active, and an in the trenches with the team type of person who is qualified to be a city commissioner on day one.

Therefore, I respectfully ask for your vote on Tuesday, March 13th.
