The VOICE of Inspiration

By Don Lindsey

Recently, I’ve hit a bit of a crossroads when it comes to my emotional and mental health. Generally, when I am at that point, I’ll start to look for things that I find inspirational to help turn this frame of mind around. Unfortunately, I am struggling with that, so I am going to use the column this week to call on the readers for help.

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a piece about Candy’s Cat’s Inc. that highlighted the wonderful things that they do for Apopka and the surrounding communities. My idea was to showcase area organizations, businesses, or people that do positive things for the folks of our area every couple of weeks or so. I’m now looking to move the weekly focus of my columns to that idea. I have direction for next week’s column, a community organization who helps with the needs of homeless people but going beyond that, I would like to ask those who read these to give me some ideas on topics for future columns. I’ve lived in Apopka for 6 years, however I’m still not completely familiar with our entire area. So, if you know of or are inspired by something that you find to be a positive source in our community then please comment below this article or email me at lookingforinspirationapv@yahoo.com. Include the name of the place or person, and anything else you can provide to help with my researching process such as examples of their kindness, websites, or people to interview. I will read each comment or email and will make a list of all suggestions. I plan on this being a continuing series so there’s no limit to submitting ideas/places for me to write about.

I for one am constantly worried about the current state of our society. With all the violence and other negative influences, we see unfold through newscasts and the like, it’s easy for me to find myself losing faith in the world we’re raising our children in. However, I am finding that when I learn of something good or people doing good things, that loss of faith isn’t as overwhelming. There are examples of hope for our future in the people of this area. Every day we see that so it’s my goal to shine a light on the positivity. Not only will writing and learning about those situations help my overall outlook but maybe it will help those who share my concern. So, I’m looking for inspiration…… Who’s got some? God bless and have a wonderful week.
