Weekend Plan: Dine Around Apopka

For some, complaining about dining options in Apopka is a community pastime. With the opening of each fast-food restaurant, social media critics set the internet on fire.

"When will Apopka get a great restaurant?"

There is, however, a coalition of restaurateurs who say that day has come. They want you to dine around Apopka and see for yourself what this city's restaurants have to offer. If you do, they will give a portion to charity.

They call their alliance Dine Around Apopka.

This coalition invites you to dine at participating restaurants this month. During the promotion, each dining partner will offer a special menu item with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka. Participating restaurants include:

Aunt GingiBreads Bakery

B Cupcakes

Backroom Steakhouse

Beef O’Brady’s

Charlie Grangers

Edible Arrangements

Hurricanes

Menchies Frozen Yogurt

A Moveable Feast

Porkies Original BBQ

Something Fishy

Sultan Mediterranean Grill

Sus Hi! Eatstation

Sweet Jar Creations

The White Table.

Patrice Phillips is the founder of Dine Around Apopka. She is the owner of Phillips Development & Events. She and her husband Terence Phillips are the owners of Something Fishy - one of the Dine Around Apopka members. They moved to Apopka nine years ago with their three children Gabrielle 25, Kenneth 21, and Christopher 13.

Something Fishy opened its doors in April of 2016, and Apopka has been in love with them ever since. Now, Patrice wants the community to fall in love with all the restaurants in Apopka.

There are great dining options in Apopka. Just take a look at the list above. Make it a point to push back on the critics this weekend and Dine Around Apopka. At the same time, you'll be helping out a charity that is bringing affordable housing to South Apopka.
