At the Apopka City Council meeting today, Supervisory Agents of the FBI will recognize the Apopka Police Department and other law enforcement agencies for work in capturing serial bank robbers last year.

On December 7th, 2017, several weeks’ worth of surveillance paid off with the arrest of four suspects who attempted a bank robbery at the Iberia Bank located at 1420 West Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka Florida. The four men were involved in a number of bank and commercial robberies throughout Florida. Members of the FBI, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Orange, Osceola, and Seminole County sheriff's offices, the APD, and Kissimmee police followed and surveilled the robbers for weeks prior to catching them in the act, attempting to rob the Apopka bank. The men were taken into custody as they approached the door of the Iberia Bank.

The four subjects were apprehended before entering Iberia Bank in Apopka and were charged with robbing multiple banks in Central Florida.

No one was injured in the attempt, and the men were charged with the Iberia Bank robbery, along with a number of other charges. The teamwork of the agencies resulted in the successful capture of a group of violent serial criminals.

The FBI is presenting awards to members of the Apopka Police Department, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and Orlando Police Department for their hard work and dedication to the successful investigation.
