From the Florida Highway Patrol

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision between a vehicle and three pedestrians this morning on Thompson Road in Apopka.

According to a press release from the FHP, a vehicle was traveling southbound on Thompson Road. Three pedestrians, Betty Ramsford, 31 of Apopka, and two juveniles ages nine and 10 were standing on the east shoulder of Thompson Road. After a northbound vehicle passed the pedestrians, they attempted to cross Thompson Road, not in a crosswalk or intersection. The driver, Brandon Klein, 23 of Orlando, was unable to stop in time and struck the pedestrians.

Ramsford and the 10-year-old minor were transported to Florida Hospital Apopka and treated for minor injuries according to the release. The nine-year-old minor was transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital and also treated for minor injuries.

No other details were released by the FHP. This is a breaking story. The Apopka Voice will update as more information is learned or released.

  1. That is horrible! I am so sorry that they were hit and injured. So tragic! It is very dangerous out walking around Apopka. I know because I was almost hit at Park Av. and Martin St. and I vowed not to cross at that intersection ever again, and I had the walk signal too.
