Task Force Schedules Final Listening Session

The Apopka Community Task Force on Violence has scheduled the Final Community Listening meeting for next Thursday, July 14th.

The meeting will be held at the John H. Bridges Community Center from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Watch this video for more information:

The meeting will be facilitated by Task Force Co-Chairs Rod Love and Retired Orange County Sheriff Commander Ken Wilson.

The organizers expected this to be a very interactive workshop driven by community citizens who identify the problems and develop results anticipated to be utilized as legislative work papers to based community needs including:

• Mentoring programs
• Crime prevention activities
• Job coaching and placement
• Gender specific services for males and females

The meeting will feature a short motivation presentation by Tracy Maxwell. Maxwell is an expert in enhancing and developing alternative programs for youth. He is dynamic and charismatic speaker based in Ocala.

Dr. Randy Nelson, a researcher, professor at Bethune-Cookman University, as well as being a nationally recognized law enforcement trainer throughout the country in the area of community and law enforcement engagement techniques will also be there.
