From the City of Apopka

A Missouri-based storm debris company that helped Apopka to recover from Hurricane Irma is now providing one more helpful act for Thanksgiving.

Jeremy and Rachel Eivins, owners of First Call Storm Removal, made a generous donation Wednesday to the Loaves and Fishes food pantry to help feed local families. The contribution is the Eivins’ way to show thanks to Apopka.

“We just wanted a way to give back to the community,” said Jeremy Eivins.

Loaves and Fishes Director Lory Reeves said the donation is a big help for their charity’s efforts to feed up to 40 families a week. “This is such a blessing,” she said.

First Call and another subcontractor have worked for the past sixty days to collect more than 140,000 cubic yards of damaged trees, broken limbs and other debris following Hurricane Irma.

Some of the trucks came from as far away as California to work in Apopka. Now those trucks will head back to California to assist that state with tree removal to control destructive pine beetles. First Call also will continue work here in Apopka to combust tons of storm debris collected at a vacant area of the Northwest Recreation Complex.

Jeremy Eivins said he is thankful to serve Apopka. His family in Bethany, Mo., includes his wife, Rachel, and children Allison, 14, Jarrett, 11, Alivia, 8, and Attlie, 5. Jeremy and his employees have camped for weeks with their massive collection trucks at the Northwest Recreation Complex.

He said the Apopka community has extended so much kindness to his team during the storm cleanup. Eivins expressed special thanks to Jim and Patricia L’Heureux as well as their son, Tyler, who cooked meals and washed laundry for all of the First Call workers.
