One day event coming to Wekiwa Springs State Park next month

From The Wekiva Wilderness Trust

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Wekiwa Springs State Park will take part in National Public Lands Day.

This project is sponsored by The Wekiva Wilderness Trust, which is a non-profit, volunteer citizen support organization tasked with supporting the three Florida state parks that together are the Wekiva River Basin State Parks. Its mission is to provide environmental and educational programs both within the park and as an outreach program meeting with schools, church groups, business organizations etc. Additional volunteers are always welcome and appreciated.

Join the Wekiva Wilderness Trust and The Florida Park Service in support of National Public Lands Day. The trust will be sprucing up the park from the busy summer by: Splitting wood, trail clearing & picking up litter. Please bring loppers if you have them to help with the removal process. We will be meeting in the Interpretive Pavilion at the main use area for the start of this activity.

Volunteers must bring/wear closed toed shoes, eye protection,

gloves, sunscreen, hats, and bug repellent is highly recommended. Please bring a snack and plenty of water. Those who participate in this event will receive free admission for the day. We will have various interpretive programs and guided

walking tours during the day. We look forward to having a wonderful day with volunteers in our beautiful park!
