The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision on Hiawassee Road in Orange County last night that resulted in a fatality to one driver, and serious injuries to an Apopka resident.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:25 pm, two vehicles driven by a 27-year-old Ocoee man, and a 23-year-old Apopka man, were traveling northbound on Hiawassee Road near the intersection of Tallowtree Lane in Orlando, side-by-side.
A collision occurred between the two vehicles, and both entered the southbound lanes of Hiawassee Road, crashing into a tree and a light pole.
Both drivers were transported to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee. According to the report, the Ocoee man later died.
The FHP is not releasing the names of the deceased Ocoee man or the Apopka driver.
The crash is under investigation, and no other details are being reported by the FHP.
