Faith & Inspiration

By Charles Towne

Drake was his name, Drake Daniels. Drake was 57 and so excited that he was finally going back to school to study journalism. He was more than ready to see his dream of becoming a writer fulfilled.

Drake had one book on the New York Times best seller list, and a publisher in one of the major presses was looking for more.

By all appearances, Drake Daniels was living the dream!

One might say that Drake’s beginning as a writer was most fortuitous. And now, he was finally on his way!

His three children, due to their father’s wisdom and foresight, had all attended college and were on their way to success as well.

Drake had sold his small research and development business three years before, and he now seemed the epitome of success.

He was so excited about this next season - being back in school - and finally pursuing the life he had always dreamed of, and hopefully soon see it become reality.

Drake’s enthusiasm about writing was so contagious that the other students, most being less than half his age, gravitated toward him.

He always had an encouraging word to say, and, if another student needed assistance, Drake was there to help.

It was in the middle of his second year at the university when Drake failed to show up for classes.

One day turned into three, and still no Drake.

When his phone went unanswered, his family was contacted.

I don’t believe I have to tell you the rest.

.

Sometimes we put off until tomorrow what we should have done today!

Drake Daniels had a plan, and he worked his plan. It is good to have a plan. And yet...

My story about Drake is not real, but it could have been.

How many people - people like you and I - aspire to some great plan, but fail because we wait, we delay, we put it off until all of our ducks are in a row... and then a garbage truck comes along and runs over our ducks?

Don’t put it off my friend! Live your dream!

Do!

Be!

Don’t delay!

Aspire to greatness...today!

God is calling your name.

Remember my friend, it is not over until it is over - and that is coming from an 87 year old dude that is starting life anew!

It is never too late to reinvent yourself.

I am starting a new chapter in my life, and so can you!

Live Fully

Love Openly

And make a difference, TODAY!

Charles Towne is first and foremost a Christian. An octogenarian, author, journalist, wildlife photographer, naturalist, caregiver, and survivor, his life has been and continues to be, a never-ending adventure filled with possibilities never imagined. He has adopted the philosophy that to Live fully, laugh uproariously, love passionately, and learn like there is no tomorrow, is a formula for a long and joy-filled life.
