This Guide will Help you to Get through Tough Times

Posted

Do you feel as though you are just not able to get through the situation you are in right now? If so, remember that you are not alone. Everyone goes through a tough time now and again, but there are things that you can do to make sure that you grow and learn from your experience, coming out a stronger person as a result.

Build resilience

If you are sensitive to things such as emotional distress, or if you are finding it difficult to cope with things such as hardships or adversity, then you need to avoid looking at this as a character flaw. Resilience isn’t a “tough” quality; in fact, it is an ongoing process that you have to try and build over time. If you have not faced adversity in your life before, then you have probably never had the opportunity to develop very much resilience. Surviving any kind of hardship can teach you about yourself and it can help you learn about the world around you as well. It will also deepen your empathy and your resolve.

Accept the situation

Change is inevitable in life. You cannot control the pace of things like social change or even how the economy behaves, and although it can be tough to acknowledge this, it's good to try. If you try and control things that cannot be changed by your actions, then this will drain you of your energy, and it will leave you feeling incredibly anxious. If you want to help yourself, then start by focusing on the things that you are able to control. Make a list of the things that worry you, and then give yourself permission to let them go. If you feel like you need deeper answers in your life, then it may be a good idea for you to look into bible questions and answers so you can find more relevant help for your troubled spirit.

Accept the way you feel

It can be very tempting for you to think that you can get through any tough time by simply ignoring the painful emotions that you are experiencing. Those unpleasant emotions will exist anyway, regardless of whether or not you pay attention to them or put on a brave face. If possible, accept the way that you feel as being normal so that you can then work through the way that you feel in a positive way. If you can do this, then you will soon find that it becomes easier for you to feel better about yourself as well.

If you need help remember, it is always a good idea for you to reach out to people. When you do, trust them to give you the help, advice or support you need to get through whatever it is you are experiencing. Remember, a problem shared is a problem halved, and this could work wonders for your mental health.

Speak to someone

In the toughest of times in our lives, we need support from people. If you don’t want to talk to the people around you, then speak to a professional who understands what you’re going through. If you don’t want to talk to a professional then you’re going to have to open up to those around you and let them know what you are going through. You can then look at different types of therapies,  finding the one that is right for you. Find an emdr therapist that can provide you with the help that you need, or another type of therapist depending on what you require.
