The Three Words That Increase Website Traffic

Posted

By Jane Lucas

No matter what business you are in, there is a lot of competition to get website traffic. There are a few factors that come into play when considering web traffic: are you B2B or B2C? Perhaps you have a specific niche like real estate or finance.

We understand that it can seem like you are talking to no one when posting content on your social media and website. And we know that consistency is one of the most critical factors, but what comes next?

Content.

The content of your content is what makes an impact. Understanding what your audience needs from you and the style they need it in is key.

Many business people who have a limited amount of time, can’t consume a 3,000-word blog post - no matter how interesting the topic. However, if you can condense it down into a downloadable 2-page bullet point list? Bingo.

Once you understand your audience and identify their pain points, understand where they are online and the media they consume offline, then you are 50% of the way there.

So what can you do to wow your readers, and create content that is shareable and engaging?

Value

Create content with value.

If you are sharing an Instagram post of a house listing, or perhaps your morning coffee - where is the value for the reader? Maybe you have put together a whitepaper, and it just isn’t being downloaded as you had hoped. Ask yourself:

Does it give the reader value?

Look at all of the metrics across all of the platforms and your website. Look at the highest performing content, and highlight the value that was offered to the reader.

Even if you regularly have high performing content, this is an exercise worth the time.

Once you have a range of the most read, shared and used content, build a point-by-point set of value markers for all future content.

If new content doesn’t meet the points, don’t publish it.

SEO

If your content hits all of the value markers you have outlined but is still not getting traffic, it’s time to look at your search engine optimization, or 'SEO'. SEO is a marathon, not a sprint, but it is the foundation of getting regular, qualified traffic.

SEO basics are simple to understand, but as you go further into the metrics, behaviors, and content gap analysis, it’s time to consider Ignite Digital best Seo Company. Professional SEO companies employ software that can perform tasks at a higher rate, make sense of the numbers and optimize your website.

The impact of SEO is long-lasting, but it takes time to build up to a steady stream of qualified readers.

Action

What is the next step for the customer? Have you given them somewhere to go or something to do? Your calls to action are a significant contributor to encouraging activity.

You can use your social media in the same way and encourage action from those who engage with your content.

Use your calls to action to encourage readers to consume more content, access downloads or product pages. Since they are on your website they are already interested in what you are offering, give them something to do.

And those are the three words that will see an increase in website traffic that will lead to conversions: value, SEO and action.
