Subaru Recall warns drivers to Not Drive affected vehicles until they are inspected.

The Subaru recall affects about 48,500 vehicles because of a steering problem that could lead to a crash.

According to the Subaru Recall Notice, there may be an issue in some vehicles, which can cause the steering column shaft to not working properly.

"If this were to occur, the steering wheel may rotate freely and the driver would lose the ability to steer the vehicle," the notice says.

The recall affects the 2016 and 2017 Subaru Legacy, and 2015, 2016 and 2017 Subaru Outbacks.

Subaru says the recall was prompted when a 2016 Subaru Outback driver experienced a steering issue on May 3.

Subaru says anyone whose vehicle is being recalled should not drive it until an inspection can take place.
