The federal tax filing season has begun, and 2022 promises to be a tough year for the IRS because millions of returns from last year still have to be processed, and staffing issues persist at the IRS due to COVID-19 and a lack of funding for the agency.
The federal tax filing deadline this year is Monday, April 18th. That's the day by which you must have filed your 2021 individual return and paid any remaining federal income taxes owed for last year.
