Sometimes it's the most unsuspecting things in life that make you feel alive!

Posted

It was the most joyous time of my life!

The bear, a large male, was so ticked off at me that he was cussing up a storm; at least that’s what I think he was doing.

He charged me, stopped about ten feet away, and stood there with his side toward me, in order to appear larger I suppose.

Contrary to popular belief, bears don’t growl; they pop their jaws, moan and slap the ground, which, to say the least, is enough to get your attention, especially if the bear in question is close enough to spit-in-your-eye-kind-of-spitting-distance.

I knew that if he decided to attack he would be on me in a blink of an eye.  He was angry, but smart.

If at all possible, bears avoid conflict; but there is always that exception, isn’t there?

He chuffed at me, pushed his lips out in a bearish pout, slapped the ground to let me know that he was the biggest, baddest bear around (I believed him), and then he turned away, only to suddenly spin back around and charge again!  Far too close by a long shot.

Finally, after three or four bluff-charges, I guess he figured that he had taught me a lesson I wouldn’t soon forget, because he turned and walked away, vanishing in the thick underbrush that surrounded us.

It was about that time that I started breathing again.

And it is at times like this that I feel so very much alive!

It is strange that even though I have had many such experiences, the most recent always tends to seem more intense than any that has gone before!

In situations like this, when we are put to the test, is we learn something about ourselves that is powerful and life changing.

It makes me think of other life-changing opportunities, like when we go before our wonderful God in prayer. We must take a moment and realize that we are in the presence of absolute power.  At such times we must sense, more than any other time, that we are alive.   Really alive!

The Father is waiting for you. He yearns for you. He loves you.

The bear could have killed me that day, but God, our loving, Holy friend, doesn’t want to slay us; He wants to give us eternal life.   So be still my friend when you are there, and remember, you are in the presence of the Most High God!

May the Son warm your heart,
Light your day,
Heal your pain,
And bring you joy.

Oh Holy God, merciful Father, loving friend, I praise you! You are my all in all.  Without you I am wandering in the dark, lost and alone, filled with worry, confusion and despair.  But with you, oh dear friend God, with you I am filled with joy and contentment, knowing full well that I need fear nothing because you cast out all fear. Walk with me Father, teach me.  I love you Daddy, and I thank you.  In the blessed and Holy name of Jesus’we ask it, Amen
