Local Community-Based Workforce to Increase COVID-19 Vaccine Access – Department of Health and Human Services

Total Program Funding: $121,000,000

Application Deadline: June 9, 2021

Description: The purpose of the program is to establish, expand, and sustain a public health workforce to prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19. This includes mobilizing community outreach workers, which includes community health workers, patient navigators, and social support specialists, to educate and assist individuals in accessing and receiving COVID-19 vaccinations. This includes activities such as conducting face-to-face outreach and reaching out directly to community members to educate them about the vaccine, assisting individuals in making a vaccine appointment, providing resources to find convenient vaccine locations, assisting individuals with transportation or other needs to get to a vaccination site. Partnering organizations may include entities such as:

Community-based organizations (including faith-based organizations, social service organizations)

Local chapters of national associations

Local health departments

Health centers and other community-based health providers

Minority-serving organizations or institutions

Tribes and Tribal organizations

Philanthropic organizations

Local municipal entities, such as fire and EMS departments

Social service providers (e.g. food banks, community transportation, childcare)

Community Action Coalitions, Chambers of Commerce, Health Equity Councils, and other community groups

COPS Office School Violence Prevention Program Solicitation – Department of Justice

Award Ceiling: $500,000

Application Deadline: June 15, 2021

Description: The 2021 COPS Office School Violence Prevention Program is a competitive program that provides funding directly to States, units of local government, Indian tribes, and their public agencies to be used to improve security at schools and on school grounds in the jurisdiction of the grantee through evidence-based school safety programs. Up to $53 million is available for this program.

COPS Office Hiring Program Solicitation - Department of Justice

Award Ceiling: $50,000,000

Application Deadline: June 15, 2021

Description: The 2021 COPS Hiring Program is a competitive grant program designed to provide funds directly to law enforcement agencies to hire new or rehire existing career law enforcement officers to increase their community policing capacity and crime prevention efforts. Anticipated outcomes of CHP awards include engagement in planned community partnerships, implementation of projects to analyze and assess problems, implementation of changes to personnel and agency management in support of community policing, and increased capacity of agencies to engage in community policing activities. All local, state, territorial, and tribal law enforcement agencies that have primary law enforcement authority are eligible to apply.

American Rescue Plan Grants – Institute of Museum and Library Services

Description: The IMLS American Rescue Plan grants program supports museum and library services in addressing community needs created or exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and in assisting with recovery. Projects may continue, enhance, or expand existing programs and services, or they may launch new ones to address emergent needs and unexpected hardships.

Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Program – Department of Justice

Award Ceiling: $1,000,000

Application Deadline: July 16, 2021

Description: This grant opportunity will provide extended integration services with a focus on individualized programming to former refugees and asylees to attain the skills and knowledge required for successful citizenship. It will also provide other services that foster a sense of belonging and attachment to the United States. The program has expanded eligibility to include lawful permanent residents who were admitted or entered the United States as Cuban or Haitian entrants or individuals admitted on a Special Immigrant Visa. Applicants must design an integration support program that provides a suite of services to program beneficiaries to promote long-term civic integration and citizenship.

Citizenship and Integration Grant Program; Citizenship Instruction and Naturalization Application Services – Department of Homeland Security

Award Ceiling: $8,200,000

Hurricane Irma Debris Removal – Department of Homeland Security

Recipient: Orange County Government

Award: $3,199,136.84

Description: During the incident period, Hurricane Irma deposited debris throughout Orange County. In response to the event, Orange County contracted services to remove and haul 293,897.83 cubic yards (CY) of vegetative and 23,247.90 CY of Construction & Demolition debris from roads and public property including right of ways to one temporary staging site with final disposal at one permitted landfill.

State and National Grant Funding – AmeriCorps

Recipient: City of Orlando – O-PASS

Award: $511,353

Description: The City of Orlando proposes to have 20 full-time and 20 three-quarter time AmeriCorps members who will provide in-school and out-of-school tutoring and mentoring services to low-performing and at-risk youth at five (5) Orlando public middle schools and five (5) after-school and summer middle school program sites. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for providing services to 1,275 students, and 70% of program completers will improve academic performance in Language Arts and/or Math or improve in Social and Emotional Learning competencies. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional 50 volunteers who will be engaged in the COO's "Cities of Service" program and assist in multiple COO led projects throughout the year.

State and National Grant Funding – AmeriCorps

Recipient: City of Orlando – Operation AmeriCorps

Award: $371,396

Description: The City of Orlando proposes to have 24 AmeriCorps members who will continue the Operation AmeriCorps initiative by implementing an academic advocacy and counseling program targeted at high school juniors and seniors and provide these services in four Orlando area high schools (Boone, Colonial, Edgewater, and Jones). At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for assisting 800 students to complete the program by ensuring each student enrolled graduates high school successfully and has a designated future track (post-secondary school, technical school, military enlistment, national service or employment). In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional 80 volunteers who will be engaged in enhancing the services provided to the students.

State and National Grant Funding – AmeriCorps

Recipient: City Year Orlando

Award: $1,299,345

Description: City Year Orlando proposes to have 82 full-time AmeriCorps members who will provide full-day education services to students in 8 public schools in Orlando, Florida. At the end of the first program year, as Student Success Coaches, the AmeriCorps members will provide academic and youth Florida - FY2021 AmeriCorps State and National Grant Awards development mentoring to 1,300 students of which 231 students will improve literacy skills, 170 will improve math skills, and 154 will improve attendance. Members will also provide extended day and school climate activities. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage 50 volunteers who will be engaged in service projects that benefit our students.
