Registration now open for Spring Break Camp at Camp Wewa

The City of Apopka's Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Spring Break Camp  for children ages 5 - 10 years old, in grades K - 5, who need care during Spring Break. What better place than at Camp Wewa?  Here are all the details for signing up: 

Dates: Monday, March 14 to Friday, March 18, 2022

  • Times: 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM 
  • Location: Camp Wewa
  • Drop-off and Pick-up:  Main Dining Hall at Camp Wewa
  • Additional Information: Participants will need to pack a lunch and snack each day.

Fees

  • Apopka Residents: $110 for entire week 
  • Non-Residents: $150 for entire week 
  • All camp fees must be paid at the time of registration.

Open registration is now open on our Rec1 page under Youth Activities. Registration will be ongoing until all spaces have been filled. Online registration is required for this program. 2022 Spring Break Registration

Spring Break Camp will be held at Camp Wewa, located at 221 S. Binion Road, Apopka, FL 32703.

Activities

While the specific activities for the Spring Break Camp have yet to be shared, according to the City of Apopka, Camp Wewa is equipped for fun and adventure for kids and adults alike.  There are "opportunities for experiencing adventure activities, arts and crafts, athletics, boating, target sports and more". Besides general facilities like a dining hall and pavilions, there is also a "fire pit, lake, ropes course and climbing wall, activity buildings and cabins, basketball courts, target areas, outdoor chapel, and junior Olympic-sized pool."

According to summercamp.com, the history of this camp is one that is "long and sacred. What began as a Boy Scout camp, turned into a haven for people of all races, faiths and genders. Camp Wewa stands for the "Land of Many Waters", as it's surrounded by three lakes", with the camp centered, making it an oasis of its own. "Camp Wewa has for many generations touched the lives of so many people, and will continue to do so many years into the future."
