The Apopka Fire Department invites you to join them for a 5K (3.1 Miles) Run on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Apopka's Northwest Recreation Complex (3710 Jason Dwelley Parkway) with a Virtual Run option. This run honors fellow American civilians and our fallen Firefighters and Law Enforcement Officers, and is sponsored by the Armando Borjas Jr. Scholarship Foundation, Inc.

Who is Armando Borjas Jr.

Armando Borjas Jr. spent 14 years fighting fires and saving lives with the Apopka Fire Department and seven years active duty with the United States Marine Corp. In 2011 Borjas was diagnosed with stage IV esophageal cancer, which he battled for two years until his death at age 39. In an effort to keep his memory alive, all donations and proceeds from this event will benefit a memorial scholarship fund in his name. The funds will help send local youth to Fire and EMT school and carry on Armando's legacy of public service.
