Orange County Consumer Protection Unit offers residents hope after a bad transaction

Posted

In Orange County Government, we have a Consumer Protection Unit that can help to resolve a consumer complaint. As long as a portion of your transaction happened in Orange County, the door is open for you to reach out.

Here’s how it works. First, complete a complaint form and submit that form along with the necessary supporting documents. Never send originals. You can also print out the form and mail it to the Consumer Protection Unit, 2450 33rd St., 2nd Floor, Orlando, FL  32839.

Here are the links to the forms:

If you need a form mailed to you, please call 407.836.4237 or 4267.

Once received, an investigator will begin mediation into your case. If warranted, your complaint may be referred to the State Attorney’s Office for criminal prosecution on your behalf. Sometimes, you may need an attorney to handle the issue, but the Consumer Protection Unit can assess the situation. It’s another level of intervention helping you to be treated fairly as a consumer in our county.

They even have investigators able to visit your group to speak on identity theft, identification fraud, telemarketing scams, and more. It is free! Email: fraudhelp@ocfl.net or call 407.836.4237 or 4267 to book a speaker.
