Northrop Grumman/Apopka awarded contract to manufacture Next Generation Handheld Targeting System for Marines

Posted

The US Marine Corps (USMC) has selected the Northrop Grumman Corporation to manufacture the Next Generation Handheld Targeting System (NGHTS). This compact targeting device provides unparalleled precision targeting and is capable of operation in GPS-denied environments.

“NGHTS will significantly enhance the ability of Marines to identify ground targets under a wide range of conditions,” said Bob Gough, vice president, navigation, targeting and survivability at Northrop Grumman. “Connected to military networks, NGHTS can provide superior situational awareness and accurate coordinates for the delivery of effects from beyond the line of sight.”

The development of NGHTS began in 2019 at the Apopka site.

"The USMC is looking for a compact, rugged, lightweight, man-portable system that will enable marines to quickly acquire targets and perform guidance," the USMC said in its 2019 statement. "It chose Northrop Grumman to develop advanced targeting systems with the aim of delivering improved capability."

Northrop Grumman also chose its Apopka site to manufacture the device.

The NGHTS device is capable of performing rapid target acquisition, laser terminal guidance operation and laser spot imaging functions. Its high-definition infrared sensors provide accuracy and grid capability over extended ranges. Additional features include a high-definition color display and day/night celestial compasses.

War, what is it good for? Absolutely, positively nothing!!! The Ukaranian war imposed by Putin is making me physically sick. I want to help those people so badly! How can world leaders just sit back, and not help them??? Pleas falling on deaf ears, for help! Have the lessons of the past with Hitler, not taught the world anything? I know it is bothering me very badly, in fact, so much that when I am out and about in the the general public, certain men are starting to look like Zelenskyy, and I am not saying this to be funny, because, as I said, it all is affecting me very negatively.
