Miami Hurricanes Continue to Struggle

Posted

By Ana Bogatinovska

The Miami Hurricanes used to be one of the most dominant college football teams in the country, but the program is currently going through a rough patch. Things were supposed to turn around a bit in 2021, but it hasn't been the case through six games.

On Saturday, Miami traveled to North Carolina, looking to get some revenge for an embarrassing performance against the Tar Heels a season ago. The Hurricanes performed better in this game, but they suffered a 45-42 defeat.

Head coach Manny Diaz said, "There's an excellent team in that locker room. We don't have a good record." It's great that the head coach still believes in his team, but the Hurricanes just have not been able to rack up the wins on the football field.

It hasn't exactly been a great season for North Carolina either, but they were able to withstand a late charge from Miami on Saturday. The Tar Heels moved to 4-3 on the year with the win, and they look to be in great shape to clinch a bowl berth.

Many bookies such as BetMGM had competitive odds for the match, and those who are interested in placing a risk-free bet can do so by using the BetMGM bonus code.

Will Diaz Survive the Season?

You can read plenty of news and opinion stories about the plight of the Miami Hurricanes football team, and there aren't many positive updates to provide. This team has failed to live up to the hype once again, and now Manny Diaz is currently on the hot seat.

Diaz was supposed to be the savior in Miami, and there was plenty of hope that he would be the coach that could turn thighs around. Injuries and other minor issues have hurt the Hurricanes this season, but ultimately, it falls on Diaz and his leadership.

Some high-profile alums are calling for the firing of Diaz at Miami, but it's unclear if the administration will listen. This feels like a program that needs some continuity to make a real change, but Diaz might not be the man for the job.

Miami can still become bowl-eligible this season, but it will take a big finish to the regular season. Some winnable games are remaining on the schedule, but the Hurricanes will also have to play well.

Firing Diaz will create even more questions surrounding the Miami Hurricanes football program, but it might be a necessary move. We will see how the Hurricanes finish the season, but Diaz's seat is getting warm down in South Beach.

ACC Race Still Wide Open

The Clemson Tigers are still the betting favorites to win the ACC Championship this season, but they haven't been as dominant as in years past. Clemson has odds set at +150 to win the title, but it's going to take a strong push to finish the season.

Surprisingly, Miami still has some favorable odds to win the ACC, even though those have now dipped to +3000. The Hurricanes will have to win the rest of their regular-season games to have a chance, and they will also need some help.

North Carolina still has odds set at +5000 to win the ACC, but the win over Miami should shorten those odds considerably. The Tar Heels can use the win over Miami to gain some momentum, but it's still a stretch to see them winning the title.
