Local organizations partnering in health event to protect Apopka residents

Apopka Health Fair: COVID-19 Vaccines, HIV/AIDS testing, and other free health screenings

The Florida Department of Health, IHOP, Harmony Healthcare Orlando, Rotary eClub of Florida, QLatinx, and other organizations are collaborating to host a Health Fair on August 13th from 11 am to 3 pm to provide life-saving health resources at 1120 West Orange Blossom Trail in Apopka.

The first 25 participants tested will receive free $5 IHOPPY meals!

“At a time when the COVID-19 pandemic cases are multiplying amongst those without a vaccine, it is urgent to save lives together,” said Rotarian Italia Rico, the QLatinx COVID-19 Community Education Consultant. "Participation leads to gift cards, swag, and enhanced protection from the roaring delta variant of the present pandemic.”

Rotarian and Registered Nurse Odette Constant, owner of La Madone Registry, a nursing agency, will help out and answer questions. Rotarian Barbara Ansar founded Charity & Love, Inc. The nonprofit agency provides human services to the community of all types at the intersection of Clarcona-Ocoee Road and SR 441.

The Orange County Library System North Orange Branch director Alicea Maritza will read and provide free books to children from the Rotary eClub of Florida Little Free Libraries, food, and more. Other participants include Central Florida AHEC, State Farm Insurance-Shren Yeager, VFW Post/Auxiliary 10147, Chanell Wright "Save A Child" Foundation, Friends of the Library Maitland Library, Orange County Tobacco Policy Manager CivCom.com, District 2 County Commissioner Christine Moore, Sistas Organizing to Survive Orlando, and Olmstead Publishing.
