Friends of Children and Families announce job openings

Friends of Children and Families (FCF), a non- profit organization whose mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for at-risk children and their families and give them the opportunity to develop into well-adjusted and productive members of society, has posted two job openings for a Family Educator and Case Coordinator. The descriptions are listed below.

About FCF

FCF provides Residential Group Homes, Outpatient Counseling, Rapid Response, and Mentoring. Both the Rapid Response and Mentoring services are provided on a referral basis at this time.

FCF offers Residential Group Home services for children ages 12 to 17 removed from their homes due to abuse and/or neglect in need of Foster Care.

Foster care is a temporary custody arrangement in which a child is placed with caring individuals provide for the care of a child or children whose birthparent is unable to care for them. Foster care is not where juvenile delinquents go. It is where children go when their parents cannot, for a variety of reasons, care for them.

Children in FCF's care typically stay for six months although some children have stayed for many years until they transition to independence.

Donations

FCF also accepts monetary donations as well as gently used clothing and furniture, canned and boxed goods, hygiene products, and more. JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

POSITION TITLE: Group Facilitator

Reports to: Program Director

Supervises: 0 Positions

Responsibilities:

• Provide quality, evidenced based groups to at-risk boys and girls between the ages of 9-18.
• Provide services and activities in a structured manner that engages youth and encourages positive social interactions
• Provide services and activities that teach youth decision making and problem solving skills
• Have knowledge of various community resources
• Provide children and their families with information regarding community resources and provide linkage in order to increase awareness of benefits and services
• Implement evidence-based practices supported by research and evaluation
• Maintain accurate records of services rendered and submit documents accurately and within required timeframes
• Work collaboratively with other Community Partners
• Travel to various community settings to promote and implement the program
• Ability to work with diverse populations, taking into consideration each child's cultural and ethnic background, and gender identity
• Able to work evenings
• Assist with the collection of data that identifies service needs, trends and issues that impact the community.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college in the Human Services field. Experience working with families preferred. Must have a valid Driver's License, be willing to travel and to work afterhours.

• Provide quality, evidenced-based Parenting classes to assigned Clients by scheduling, coordinating and facilitating classes, events, and activities that engage Parents/Guardians
• Assist Parents/Guardians with identifying and accessing community services and resources to help them effectively manage the needs of their children and families.
• Implement evidence-based practices supported by research and evaluation
• Maintain accurate records of services rendered and submit documents accurately and within required timeframes
• Work collaboratively with other Community Partners
• Travel to various community settings to promote and implement the Program
• Ability to work with diverse populations and must be able to work evenings.
• Assist with the collection of data that identifies service needs, trends and issues that impact the community.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college in the Human Services field. Must have a valid Driver's License, be willing to travel and to work after hours.

POSITION TITLE: Case Coordinator

Responsibilities:

• Provide quality, evidence-based services to children and their families who have one or more parent or guardian that are or have been incarcerated.
• Serve as a positive and supportive role model for child and their family
• Deliver Case Management Services to support children and their families and help them sustain a positive home life.
• Have knowledge of various community resources
• Maintain regular contact with the child's school to monitor attendance, performance, and behavior and recommend services to keep the child engaged in education
• Facilitate communication and promote problem-solving between home and school
• Provide children and their families with information regarding community resources and provide linkage in order to increase awareness of benefits and services
• Implement evidence-based practices supported by research and evaluation
• Maintain accurate records of services rendered and submit documents accurately and within required timeframes
• Work collaboratively with other Community Partners
• Travel to various community settings to promote and implement the program
• Ability to work with diverse populations, taking into consideration each child's cultural and ethnic background, and gender identity
• Able to work evenings and weekends
• Assist with the collection of data that identifies service needs, trends and issues that impact the community.
