Candy's Cats turns 17!

The Apopka non-profit rescued 336 cats in 2021

Posted

Local Apopka non-profit Candy's Cats celebrated its 17th Anniversary on June 6th. Since 2005, the beloved organization has been “making life sweeter” by finding forever homes for their feline friends through adoptions.

In 2021, Candy’s Cats had these impressive achievements:

  • Rescued 336 kitties and adopted 337 to wonderful families,
  • Cared for (and continue to care for) 4 special needs cats in long term care
  • Returned to Winter Garden PetSmart adoption venue in June 2021 using safe Covid-19 protocols

During the celebration of their 17th Year of Service, Candy’s Cats is hosting a fundraiser through their Facebook page to further support their mission.

“Our funding comes primarily through donations from folks who support what we do and want to help us to make a difference,” said Candy Sullivan, founder of Candy's Cats, Inc. and volunteer devoted to rescuing cats and kittens of all ages since 2002.

Under Candy’s guidance and direction, the non-profit has grown to include more than 45 active volunteers.

“We have a remarkable team of volunteers in place," said Sullivan. "We’re incredibly excited to see what the next year of service will bring!”

You can meet adoptable cats and kittens from Candy’s Cats at the Winter Garden PetSmart on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm - 4pm.
