BusinessForce, a political action committee representing businesses in Central Florida, has endorsed Apopka Mayor Bryan Nelson in his reelection bid.

Nelson also received the endorsements of the Greater Orlando Builders Association on February 15th, and The Apoka Chief on Friday.

“I’m excited that the premier Central Florida Business organization (BusinessForce) has endorsed my run for re-election," said Nelson.

According to its website, BusinessForce is Florida’s largest regional political action committee.

"The selection of Bryan Nelson demonstrates the commitment of this organization to choose candidates who are both responsive and supportive of our business community," said BusinessForce Chairman Todd Wilcox. "Our board believes that Mayor Nelson represents the best interests of the citizens of Apopka, its businesses, and its future."

Cate Manley, the President/CEO of the Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the BusinessForce Board, but abstained from the vote.

According to its website, BusinessForce is an independent organization composed of regional business and community leaders that represent thousands of businesses and their tens of thousands of employees who are interested in promoting a pro-business environment and, on a non-partisan basis, supporting candidates and elected officials in the state and region who endorse the free enterprise system and sound, responsible business practices in government.

Wilcox, who was recently named Chairman of BusinessForce, believes the 2022 elections will be important ones for businesses in Central Florida.

“This is going to be a pivotal election cycle and I look forward to leading the BusinessForce constituent board members to affect pro-business candidates and issue advocacy”, he said. “When government’s focus is on the well-being of its business community, citizens prosper. Candidates who value a warm business climate have long looked to BusinessForce for guidance and I am elated to now be part of the process.”

Election Day in Apopka is Tuesday, March 8th. Early voting in Apopka starts on Tuesday, March 1st. Over 2,000 vote-by-mail ballots have already been received in the Apopka elections.
