Breaking News Overnight: Two-vehicle collision on Plymouth-Sorrento Road kills Apopka woman

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Orange County last night that resulted in fatal injuries to an Apopka resident.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:30 last night, a 2005 Ford van driven by a Kissimmee man, was traveling southbound on Plymouth-Sorrento Road. At the same time a second vehicle, a 2016 Kia Soul driven by a 49-year-old Apopka woman, was traveling northbound on Plymouth Sorrento Road.

For an unknown reason, the van traveled into the northbound lane near the intersection of Southfork Drive and struck the front of the second vehicle head-on.

The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. The driver of the first vehicle was transported to a hospital with critical injuries, according to the report.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers.
