Breaking News Overnight: Apopka motorcyclist dies in three-vehicle collision on Orange Blossom Trail

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Orange Blossom Trail and Jones Avenue in Zellwood last night that killed an Apopka man and injured two others.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:45 pm on Saturday, a 19-year old Apopka woman driving a sedan was traveling northbound on Orange Blossom Trail approaching Jones Avenue. At the same time, a 51-year old Apopka man riding a motorcycle was traveling southbound approaching Jones Avenue.

A third vehicle (a sedan driven by a 59-year-old Tavares woman) was stopped eastbound on Jones Avenue at the intersection of Orange Blossom Trail.

The driver of the first vehicle attempted to make a left turn onto Jones Avenue and turned into the direct path of the motorcycle. The right side of the sedan struck the front of the motorcycle, and then struck the left side of the third vehicle.

The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. The drivers of the two sedans sustained minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the FHP.
