Becker vs. Nelson: Mayoral Readers Poll going live Friday

Posted

On March 25th, Apopka Mayor Bryan Nelson confirmed he would run for re-election in 2022. Kyle Becker, a two-term city commissioner in Apopka, announced on August 5th that he would challenge Nelson for the center seat on the City Council.

On January 31st, Nelson and Becker will square off in a debate sponsored by the Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce at the VFW/Apopka Community Center. On March 8th, Apopka voters will decide their fate in the 2022 Mayoral Election.

But where does this election stand right now?

On Friday, The Apopka Voice will publish its first Mayoral Readers Poll. It will ask this simple question:

If the election were held today, who would you vote for?

  • Bryan Nelson
  • Kyle Becker
  • Undecided

Unlike previous election cycles, The Apopka Voice is adding the undecided choice to determine how many voters are truly on the fence with only 53 days left until the election. It's something we will continue to track in future polls after the debate, and in the final week before election day.

And althoughThe Apopka Voice will not endorse candidates, we will provide you with features, details on their campaigns, their opinions, and actions while in office.

Here are features on both candidates The Apopka Voice published in October:

Here are another series of articles about the two candidates entitled "The Race to be Mayor":

The poll will go live at 12:01 am on Friday, January 14th, and close at noon on Monday, January 17th. We will announce the results on Tuesday, January 18th. You may also leave comments on our news site under the article, or on The Apopka Voice Facebook page.
