From the City of Apopka and Staff Reports
Legendary country artists Sawyer Brown and John Anderson are returning to the Apopka Amphitheater for the highly anticipated 2024 Apopka Proud Concert. Join the City of Apopka on Saturday, October 5th, from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. for a rare opportunity to see these country stars perform their greatest hits on their hometown stage.
Sawyer Brown and Anderson, both Apopka natives, will be joined by opening act Dallas Tyler, another talented local and aspiring country artist.
The high-energy country supergroup Sawyer Brown Band is known for its blue-collar, grassroots songs reflecting on life. The band features Apopka natives Mark Miller (lead vocals) and Greg Hubbard (keys/piano), along with Joe Smyth (drums/percussion) and Shayne Hill (lead guitar). They rose to fame after winning Star Search in 1983, securing a record deal, and have since released eighteen studio albums and charted over 50 times.
The Sawyer Brown Band will be returning to the amphitheater with their new album, "Desperado Troubadours," their first release in 20 years.
Joining them is country music great Anderson, a recent inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame, returning to the Apopka Amphitheater with an acoustic set and his newest album, Years. Known for his No. 1 hits “Swingin’” and “Straight Tequila Night,” Anderson is making his comeback after a major health setback. He approached this latest album with the mindset that it might be his last. Now recovered, he continues to deliver the heartfelt storytelling and eloquent love songs that have defined his twenty-two-album career.
Tickets will be available on Eventbrite with various purchasing options, including general admission lawn seats ($25), preferred seating under the covered amphitheater ($50), and reserved tables for seating up to eight ($600).
Official merchandise and a limited number of preferred parking passes will be available as add-ons when purchasing tickets on Eventbrite (additional fees apply). Free general parking will also be available within the Northwest Recreation Complex, where the Apopka Amphitheater is located.
