Absentee Balloting to Cost $17,000 in Apopka Run-off Election
The Apopka Voice has obtained a copy of the Orange County Supervisor of Elections, cost estimate for the April 12, 2016 Apopka Run-off Election and the details are surprising.
The Orange County Supervisor of Elections is estimating that 6,500 Absentee Ballots will be mailed to Apopka voters. According to Cindy Clark, Senior Deputy Supervisor Elections, 4,648 Absentee Ballots have already been mailed. If the number of Absentee Ballots does hit 6,500 the he Supervisor of Elections office the cost will be nearly $17,000.
The next largest cost component is the printing and mailing of Sample Ballot Post Cards. Of the $28,000 estimate $4,400 is allocated to this activity.
The Supervisor has included to the cost to print 10,500 ballots during Early Voting and on Election Day. At a cost of $0.2975 each the total cost is estimated at just over $3,100.
Labor costs for the Apopka Run-off Election is estimated to be only $1,640.
Four categories account for $26,000 of the $28,000 estimate:
- Absentee Ballots: $16,893
- Sample Ballots: $4,400
- Election Day Ballot Printing: $3,124
- Election Day Labor: $1,640
The actual cost of the Apopka Run-off Election will depend upon the number of Absentee Ballots requested and the actual turnout on Election Day.
The Apopka Run-off Election cost estimate does not include the cost of legal advertising or the cost to use the Apopka Community Center as a polling place on April 12, 2016.
