Apopka resident Chris Delgado running for County Commission - District 2

Chris Delgado, an Apopka resident, and owner of Goliath Ventures INC announced his intent to run in the District 2 Orange County Commission election. 

"As many in Apopka know, the people and community here are a priority to me and have been for many, many years," said Delgado. "I am one of the first to support our great city, people, and programs when help is needed. My role as County Commissioner extends and expands my ability to serve."

Delgado joins incumbent Commissioner Christine Moore and Sandra Fatmi-Hall in the District 2 election, which includes Apopka, Ocoee, Lockhart, Tangerine, Zellwood, Eatonville, and portions of Pine Hills, College Park, and Orlando.

If elected, Delgado says he plans to spend the first 30 days meeting and connecting with members of the Apopka community and its business owners to ask questions and hear about their needs, in addition to building on his existing platforms. Delgado says he has a particular interest in exploring how tax dollars are currently used to identify ways to better leverage and increase the use of these funds for Orange County citizens.

"I've been to many public meetings with our local officials, and I've seen firsthand how many of the wants and needs of our communities are not regarded," said Delgado. "Our municipalities are elected by the community to serve the community. I will bring a needed voice and perspective to the County of Orange council."

According to his news release, Delgado is an Apopka business owner, philanthropist, and community sponsor. He has been the founder and chief executive of several successful businesses in the region, as well as served in many executive and charitable roles. He is also the founder of Orlando Gives, an annual initiative to provide low-income families financial support during the Christmas holiday season.  

“The past two years have been so difficult for a lot of families and I think this (is) really where Orlando Giving kind of stems from," Delgado said in December. "A lot of businesses got bailouts, a lot of businesses got PPP or SBA loans to stay afloat but families still suffered. My mission and my goal are to provide the best Christmas possible.”

Born in California, Delgado went from a job at In-N-Out Burgers in 2009 to work in a corporate role with just his high school diploma. Today, he owns Goliath Ventures INC - a business consulting company associated with crypto-currency.
