Apopka man charged with kidnapping and sexual battery

The Apopka Police Department arrested Fernando Mandrale Ware on Wednesday, October 5th and charged him with kidnapping, battery and three counts of sexual battery.

The charges are related to an incident that, according to police reports, occurred at the Regency Inn & Suites on West Main Street the morning of Wednesday, September 28, 2016.

regency-innAccording to police reports Ware had asked a women to give him a ride from 13th and Central to the Regency Inn at approximately 4:30 AM. Once there she, at first, waited in her car while charging his cell phone. She ultimately entered his room to return the cell phone. She and Ware then had a conversation that ended when Ware allegedly said, "I'm going to kill you," in response to her saying she was tired and wanted to leave.

According to the victim Ware hit her several times before choking and sexually assaulting her.

During the assault she noticed the door was unlatched and was able to flee to the hotel manager's office where she pounded on the door pleading for help. Bridget Pinto, the owner of the hotel, opened the door and called 911.

The victim was taken to Florida Hospital Apopka where she was treated for her injuries. The ER doctor believed she had suffered trauma to the left side of her face and was struck with great force multiple times.

During her interview with APD the victim identified Fernando Ware as her assailant in a photo lineup.

Orange County Deputies made contact with Ware on October 5th and detained him allowing Apopka Police officers to place him under arrest. He is currently being held in the Orange County Jail and is charged with kidnapping, battery and three counts of sexual battery.
