More than three dozen people attended the second meeting of the Apopka Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA) on Tuesday night, February 9, 2016. Approximately 20 HOAs were represented.
After everyone present introduced themselves Jackson described the process of officially forming the Apopka CONA. The next step in the process is to nominate members of the CONA Board. Board Nomination Forms were distributed and must be filed with Jackson by February 24, 2016.
Once the CONA Board is established the group can be formally organized by adopting bylaws and establishing membership criteria.
APD Officer Cindy Hall announced that applications were still being accepted for the 2016 Apopka Citizens Public Safety Academy. The first class is on Thursday, February 24th.
Antwan Nelson representing Orange County explained the services offered by the Orange County Neighborhood Preservation and Revitalization Division. He also described various grants available to all HOAs in Orange County.
The next meeting of the Apopka CONA is set for March 8, 2016.
